Infidelity: An Overview
According to a Menstuff.org, 70% of women and 60% of men say they never knew that their spouse was cheating on them. Others disagree, however, and say that a woman "just knows," or a man "can tell." But you don't have to go with your gut when it comes to figuring out whether your spouse is cheating. There are some common signs of infidelity that can clue you in better.
- Sudden long absences. If your spouse suddenly has to work late a lot, or is sent on frequent business trips, that's a red flag. Of course, some people do have to have to work late or go on business trips, but you know your partner's patterns. If the patterns change with little explanation, that might be a sign.
- Evasive answers. If your spouse can't give a direct answer to direct questions such as, "What will you be doing?" or "When will you be home?" or "Who else will be with you?" then they might have something to hide.
- A sudden interest in "guy time" or "girl time." If your spouse was more of a stay at home type, but develops an unusual interest in having a girls' night out or a guys-only poker night, it's possible they are just clearing a few hours from their calendar to give to their lover.
- An intensified effort to lose weight or get in shape. Maybe they didn't buff up for you, because you have to love them the way they are. But a new love interest can inspire anyone to look their best.
These are a few of the most common signs; there certainly may be others. Keep your eyes open if you start to see any of these signs come up in your marriage.
